Davao Agri Trade Expo 2018

It was yet another mouth-watering day at the 20th Davao Agri Trade Expo held last September 20-22, 2018 at SM Lanang, Davao City. And we are honored to be brought by Cacao City!

Davao Agri Trade Expo (DATE) is the biggest and longest running trade expo in the southern Philippines. It is the annual gathering of the region's leading industries as it brings together global and national agricultural experts that will provide essential ideas and best practices to contribute to Mindanao's sustainable agri-industries.

This 2018, DATE held its 20th anniversary carrying the theme "Better Agri for everyJUAN" targetting millenials and young entrepreneurs to take a look at the potentials of agri-business.

And with that, Young Farmers and Bloggers Meet Up was initiated to this year's Davao Agri Trade Expo to help the youth become more educated on how to succeed in the industry and encourage bloggers spread word through agriculture-related blogs.

Some of the speakers include Mr. Noel Provido, the agri info officer of the Department of Agriculture Region 11 talking about sustaining Davao City's trademark as the leading producer of cacao chocolate products, Mr. and Mrs. Ralota of Happy Farmer who tackled about their life story as agripreneurs.

Mr. Pompee Laviña, the DA undersecretary and a social media director expresses his thoughts about how to gain the youth's interest in agriculture, "Young people will not find it attractive, hindi naman pwedeng dahil lang nationalistic sila o patriotic sila magfa-farm sila. So we have to make it economically attractive to them that's by increasing productivity and lowering costs using technology...not just as cacao but chocolates, not just chocolates but chocolate guaranteed to win the heart of the one you love."

Moreover, DATE proudly brought back the most anticipated Chocolate Festival!

This celebration was made even more special as Cacao City highlighted different brands of cacao and chocolate products proudly made in Davao City!

Cacao City carried such products from Malagos, Cacao de Davao, Cacao Culture Farms and so much more!

Well of course, this chocolate festival wouldn't be complete without satisfying everyone's sweet tooth!

So thanks to everyone who came and appreciated the sweet smell of success of the cacao industry!

Surely the future of agriculture in the Philippines is going to be brighter!
